I realized last night just as I was going to bed that I'd forgotten to do a sketch yesterday. But it was a long day!
Today's was done in ballpoint pen on notebook paper during an application developers' meeting; the good news is, it kept me awake!
( The most jaded little hobbit of them all? )
Actually, except for the woolly toes, it could pass for a scene in NeverNever.

Apparently, it's sketches all the way down.

What can I say? She asked for an adorable demonic bunny.
( Well, it's demonic and a bunny, anyhow. )
Suggestion: If he offers you a carrot, don't take it.

It's a tiger in a vest and a floofy shirt, for no more compelling reason than that tigers, vests, and floofy shirts are all awesome.
( Watch out, or my cravat will get you! )
He doesn't seem real happy about having his portrait sketched. Or maybe he's just wondering where his hands got off to. Not a bad job for 15 minutes of sketching, although that left arm is rotated a bit far forward.

Between work being nuts, taking care of
lythandra, etc., I just don't have the energy for it today. I'll have one tomorrow. :)

An attempt to draw Baloo on-model but in an original pose. I'm not sure where the idea of having him look doubtfully into a "Box O' Stuff" came from, but it works. :)
( It's STUFF! In a BOX! )
I'm actually pretty satisfied overall, except that his toes are too large (his feet should be tiny little hemispheres to be on-model) and there's something not-quite-right about the placement of his right arm that I can't put my finger on.

So ... how well do the designs integrate I wonder...?
( Just another day at The Watering Hole. )
And for that matter, why do I have nothing but soft pencils?

Today was entirely too nice, so we walked up to a nearby shopping center for lunch. While sitting outside, sipping my post-prandial venti no-whip mocha frappuccino, I decided to sketch the local Franjipani Panera. :)
( Cut for bandwidth. )
Today's lesson learned: 2F pencils are extremely soft, meaning they get dull fast and smoodge all over your artwork.

Well! There was certainly a wide spectrum of opinion on yesterday's sketch. :D So naturally, I had to do some follow-up. :) Today is a batch of expressions which are intended to use the same basic model as yesterday, albeit a bit tweaked to remove some things that didn't work and to try to phase back in enough hints of "classic" Tiffany to prevent that "Who the heck is this gal?" reaction.
( Tyger, tyger, burning bright; your Morning Hair is quite a fright! )
Better? Not as good? No diff? Let me know what you think! :)

I asked
susandeer to assist me with Tiffany's redesign, on the grounds that Sue is awesome at that kind of thing, and of course she's been exceeding my expectations as always. :) So tonight I decided to try a potential Tiffany model incorporating Sue's ideas as well as a few of my own, if nothing else to see if I could pull it off.
( Look out for the tiger! )
What do you think, does it work?

His face isn't quite right — his features should be smaller proportionately and slightly lower on his head, I think. But it's hard to draw a moving kitty!

Today's sketch is a brainstorm on redesign thoughts for everybody's favorite gay British wolf photographer. Drezzer's look was inspired by two major things: first was a sketch of Spiked Punch done by Herbie, and second was George Harrison. And while I've always been fairly pleased with the end result, it does have a few rough spots that could stand revisiting, especially when moving to the larger canvas of the comic page.
( 'ello, 'ello! )
The original idea behind the floppy ears was just a way to give him a bit of a distinctive look. This time around, I took a little inspiration from Don Karnage and just had the tips folded over, instead of the whole ear bent in half.
What do you think? :)

Working on that whole "learning to draw" thing. Since I'm not doing strips every day, but I do need to practice every day (or as close to it as I can manage), I've decided to start a "sketch-a-day" for a while. The sketches will be whatever comes to me on a given day, whether it's life drawing, SJ characters, perspective, copies of other works, whatever. And I'll post the sketches here to keep me honest. :)
