The World of the Living

Every time you pick up a handful of dust, and see not the dust, but a mystery, a marvel, there in your hand. Every time you stop and think, "I'm alive, and being alive is fantastic!" Every time such a thing happens, you're part of the Circus of Dr. Lao.
--Tony Randall in The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao

Well, staying at home and being gentle on the ol' erector spinae seems to have done the trick. I wouldn't say my back is quite at 100% yet, but it doesn't actively hurt at least. Thanks to everybody for their comforting thoughts yesterday. ^.^ I'm going to do my best to take it easy on those particular muscles during the rest of the move, but there's only so much I can do.

So, the moving plans. laurie_robey and I are renting a truck this weekend to haul over boxes and smaller, lighter pieces of furniture. Next weekend, mammallamadevil is coming to help get more stuff moved and we've got Two Guys and Truck arranged to come around and move the OMG huge pieces, such as my desk and the credenza. So tonight, tomorrow, and most of next week is going to be spent packing-and-shuttling, packing-and-shuttling. A large amount of that, in my case at least, is probably going to be sorting through stuff (like my wardrobe) and deciding who lives and who dies what I'm going to keep and what's going to donation. Most of my "stuff" stuff is pretty well sorted on that front already.

Alas, before that can happen, I need to sit through another day of work. Pfui! Guess I better get started.

Heehee! He said "erector."

"Are you an acrobat?"
"Only philosophically."

"You know, there's no fish in that river. There isn't even a river."
"That's okay, me no use bait."

How delightfully meta.

Isn't it obvious? I'm doing both, simultaneously!

I found you a cool clock that you'd probably enjoy. A new house could always use a proper clock to help you go about waking up in the morning. ^_^

Hmm ... but is it available in the U.S., I wonder?

Well, you ask some nice bloke from across the pond if they can buy it for you and give it to you at Anthrocon, at which point you'd give them 29.95 pounds worth of dollars and your deepest gratitude, or something like that. It might be worth a shot anyways.

Lucky, I STILL haven't sorted my "stuff" stuff after moving nearly annually x.x

Have you considered getting a back brace (or whatever they call those black things that go around your middle and have suspenders)?

Good luck with the movie!

I have one, somewhere. I'll prolly use it when the moving proper starts.

Thanks! :)

"Movie"? Man, I'm not having a good week XD

I know you aren't, which is why I didn't nudge ya about it. ;)

I wish I had the bread to fly out with MLD to help out!
Mar. 8th, 2007 08:05 pm (UTC)
Much as we'd love to see you, I totally understand re: bread. :) If it's a choice between seeing you when we move, or seeing you at AC, I certainly vote AC! ;)

Mar. 8th, 2007 08:14 pm (UTC)
Aye. At AC, we are more likely to have the where-with-all to make it to a pub for a pint, making too much noise, and holding staring contests again!

There are few things in life more satisfying than making Vince hyperventilate from belly-laughter. :D

I heard about your "staring" contest. 0;)
Mar. 8th, 2007 09:13 pm (UTC)
*laugh!* It was evil, yeah. I enjoyed every minute of it! I dunno if I can say the same for poor Vince, though!

MLD is going to-- And then-- But she's from-- And then--

Okay. So from what I gather, she's flying out to help you move...? Fascinating. But also confusing... *headscratch*

Best of luck with the lifting and moving! If I had known, I'd offer to pick up stuff for you too!

Pineapple. :D
