My car stays in the yard
my car never chases dogs
my car is such a good car
he's an invisible fencing car...
I am really dragging this morning; I was up 'til midnight working on SJ last night, which wouldn't have been so bad, except for some reason our neighbors decided that Thursday night at 1:00-friggin'-a.m. would be a great time to stand out on their balcony and TALKTALKTALK AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS FOR THE NEXT TWO HOURS! Grrrrrr...
Past experience has shown me that asking noisy neighbors to be quiet generally gets a less-than-satisfactory response -- they always feel justified in making however much noise they please, and you are some kind of a jerk for trying to spoil their fun.
The apartment complex's official policy on this kind of behavior is "Call the cops. We can't do anything unless we get a notice from the police." But when you call the Fairfax County non-emergency dispatch, you get, "Thank you for your call. We are currently experiencing a very high volume of calls. Please wait for the next available operator." All night.
So I wrapped my head in pillows and got what sleep I could.
I'm up at the reception desk at least for the morning, so it will at least be a fairly light day workwise ... although it'll look even worse than usual if I unexpectedly pass out at my desk.
Oh well, you can only do what you can do.
