Adventures in Homeowning

LAST NIGHT:
My mom, taking tour of house: "Is this a grab bar?" *yank, yank, tug*

Me: "Uh, no, that's a towel rack. I wouldn't put too much weight on that."

THIS MORNING:
Me: *puts hand on towel rack while turning on the shower*

Towel Rack: *pulls out of wall, making a 2-3" divot in the drywall*

Me: *sigh*

Send her a bill for having a contractor replace it. That should teach her to keep her hands to herself.

It's the towel rack's fault for trying to impersonate a grab bar.

Oooo... a divot!

I bet it's gonna be the next big thing in house designs!

Wow, did you see the henderson's house? Their bathroom divot is soooo big!!!

*laughs*

Been there, done that. Twice. Same @*#$ towel rack.

I keep meaning to have that blasted thing melted down and then launched into deep space, but I never get around to it...

I concluded years ago that towel racks should just be constructed like grab bars to save us all a lot of trouble.

Yeah, you should either put in a grab bar for use as a towel rack, or get one of those fancy hanging-ring towel holders that old ladies and yuppies seem to like even though they force the towel to bunch up and not dry out properly. :}
