"Wow, that's sad," said Brigid.

"Hmm?" said Greg, finishing off the last of his Frangipani sandwich.

"That guy, right there," Brigid said, indicating with a nod the shiny convertible some twenty feet away. "Sleek black sports car, diamond-studded diving watch -- and a ginormous bald spot. Can you say, 'Overcompensating'?"

"Well now, be fair," said Greg. "Not every guy in a shiny sportscar is having a mid-life crisis. It may very well be that he would have bought that car 15 years ago if he could, and now finally has the means. He may have been saving up for years!"

"So instead of being shallow because he's chasing his faded youth, he's just maintaining a consistent shallowness over time, is that it?"

"No philosopher ever drove a sports car, eh?" said Greg.

"Not with those hubcaps," replied Brigid with conviction.

I wonder, are they the hubcaps that make it look like a toy car, or are they the spinning hubcaps?

I saw a beautiful black 350Z yesterday...
but the hubcaps were normal. The guy driving it looked normal too...

whomever was driving a '70 240Z (obviously loved and owned by the original owner when I saw him drive away) on Charleston Rd in Mountain View, please pardon my drool by your passenger's side---I tried not to get any on the car....(grin)

I really loved the Nissans in Japan about 4-8 years ago, the Silvia, Fairlady, and Skyline. The 2004 versions of those I didn't dig at all, but the ones before were in my opinion, very near the pinnacle of automotive styling.

Frangipani? Until I looked up the word in the dictionary and saw the alternative meaning, I thought he was eating flowers!

Nothing says 'philosopher' like bling on an expensive car.
