That Darn Cat

Around midnight, Buddha's incessant cries out in the hall got to the point where it was quite clear I wasn't going to go back to sleep until I did something about it. So I came out of the bedroom and downstairs, put the anti-claw armor (i.e., a towel) on my lap, and picked him up.

Instantly he curled into a faceplant and went right to sleep. ¬.¬

In order to make sure he got good and deep into it, I let him stay there for a while and finished up Wednesday's Suburban Jungle, covering him up with the towel to keep the light out of his eyes. 45 minutes later he was quite sedate as I set him down on the chair and went back up to bed.

I can't see how parents do it. My little midnight excursion made me feel like crud this morning until I decided to call in late to work and sleep an extra hour-and-a-half. The idea of being up at 3 a.m. for feedings (etc.) on a regular basis ... yikes. *shudder*

The ones I really can't understand are the ones who are cartoonists and parents. And often they have pets as well.

What are you people, crazy???

Yes, I'm pretty sure they are crazy, and that it is indeed their problem. ;)

Eek, now you've done it. Now he'll do it all the time! The proper response would be to throw a sock at him.

You're in charge!

Well, last night was the first time he'd done it, so I'm hoping it was an aberration. If it does keep up, however, the sock-tossing will commence shortly. ;)

Did you have pets when you grew up, right? My family had a pet dog while I was growing up. Luckily, she didn't cause too much trouble considering how small she was, since she spent most of the time sleeping if not just simply being on her very best behavior. But, next ever have found around you, especially junk food. Can you say, begging hog? I know you can, especially around dinner time. ESPECIALLY around dinner time. Forgot how long we had her, but she died during my first year in college 1979-1980, and I think we had her since the late 60s, so, that was one old dog.

Two words.... Well Duh!
Yes...to be a parent you have to be LOTS crazy. To be owned by pets...almost as crazy. To be a cartoonist...you already know the answer to THAT one...now...put all of 'em together...what do you get? Insanity of the finest sort.

I'm confused. Is Buddha a good kitty for making sure the Wednesday SJ is ready or is he a good kitty for making you do his bidding?

Crazy cats.

Prince, the third cat, spent about two months crying at all hours of the night keeping us awake. People started asking if we were sick or something.

He still has nighttime crying fits, but it's much more random and spaced out now. He's also learned to stay further away because I *CAN* hit anything in a vaguely straight line with a pillow, without leaving my bed.
