The I.V. Was the Worst Part

Well, aside from the photos, I don't have any particular evidence that a camera was shoved down my gullet. The various medical types plugged a tube into my hand (Owie!), stuck some electrodes on my chest to make the Machine That Goes Ping have something to play with, and suddenly I was waking up.

So I was groggy all day, but no other ill effects. Now laurie_robey and I are watching The Awful Truth. For all my appreciation of screwball comedies, you'd think I would have seen this one before. After all, this is the movie that made Ralph Bellamy the Bellamy!

it depends on who does the IV...
take it from someone who has gotten VERY good at having her left hand poked and prodded! Therapy? Scritch the cat...

Into your hand? I already fear needles, so that would have put me over the edge.

My experience with that type of electrodes was amusing. I had to be put under to remove both my wisdom teeth, and was so out of it that I didn't realize one was still attached. When I woke up the next morning, I felt a metal lump and panicked until I looked and saw what it was.

A lot of what you remember of the procedure depends on the the time interval between the happy juice and running the fiber optics down the gullet. I still remember the cable going down my throat during the last one I had performed. On the other hand, from the previous two, I have no recollection of anything between the administering of the happy juice and waking up in recovery.

When I had my appendix removed, I remember getting the happy juice, then there were some elevators, a few halucinations, and then I finally woke up in some room I didn't remember.

Turns out those elevators were downstairs. I was apparently back out of it for the ride up. :)
