Lucas admits: Han shot first

Take a good look at the image.

It's George Lucas and Harrison Ford, on location shooting Indiana Jones IV. "Neat," you may say, "but so what?"

George Lucas, standing next to Harrison Ford, is wearing a "Han Shot First" t-shirt.

That makes my brain hurt.

*boggle boggle boggle*

I think they probably both find the responses to all the changes, especially the vehemence of the response to that particular change, rather mind-boggling and amusing.

I'm sure they do. But at the same time, if Mr. Lucas (since Mr. Ford probably wasn't consulted) considers it a minor change, you'd wonder why he spent all the resources to make it.

Still, score one for irony, eh? And how about all that white hair!

Yeah, it's like the Young Indiana Jones chronicles where Indy shows up old. Except this time, it's real, no makeup.

As I recall, Old Indy showed up with a patch over one eye as well.

He almost looks like Jerry Garcia. ;) Thats still funny though that he's wearing the shirt. Maybe Harrison got it for him and George felt obligated to wear it.

Hmmm.

George Lucas is an avatar of Nyarlathotep.

It all makes sense now.

And I was afraid of George turning into Orson Welles and becoming a humorless b@$+@rd.

Tho' I'd wager he got the shirt as a gag gift from somebody else.

When I first saw that picture, I mistook Ford for Dale Dye.

One of the changes George Lucas made when he did the Star Wars special editions was Han's confrontation with Greedo. In the original version, Han shoots Greedo in cold blood, but in the special edition Greedo shoots first and misses, then Han shoots. George felt the change was an improvement, but some fans strongly disagree and made the "Han Shot First" shirt.

Clarification: Original '77 version Han then Gredo shoots. In the first "Special Edition" (1997), Gredo shot first. However, after much protest, when the DVDs came out, the shots were timed so that they seem like they are close to simultaneous. "Han Shot First" was basically a meme in the Star Wars fandom since '97 as sign of displeasure of Lucas messing with the original films in general.

If you want to get really picky about it, in the original '77 version, Greedo didn't get off a shot at all -- he was just sitting there talking smack, thinking he had Han covered, and Han blasted him from under the table.

Which I still say is how it should have gone. But I didn't make the movies.
