Some years ago now, in a heated reaction to an at-the-time fledgling furry convention going out of its way to call itself anything but a furry convention (which was itself an unfortunate reaction to the various hack jobs the furry fandom had received in the press and elsewhere at the time), I dashed off the Proud to be a Furry page, including the logo thereupon. Every once in a while, I come upon that logo in random places, including once hearing about it being made into a piece of jewelry without the person so much as asking my permission. (Le sigh!)

However, this evening I happened upon this post in rikoshi's LiveJournal, which uses the logo exactly as intended. Besides making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, this also serves as a reminder about what it is I love about the furry fandom to begin with. Like yesterday's dose of The Graveyard Shift, this is exactly the kind of thing I need to perk my out of my art slump, and I'm very happy to see it.

Keep on being awesome, all! :D

Wow, so that's where that's from. I've seen it posted in quite a few places.

That reminds me; now that I've got the Uber Lifetime Account Of Ridiculous Numbers of Icons, I need to re-upload that one.

And yes, Rikoshi knows where his towel is.

Hey, I didn't realize you'd actually linked on over to me! That's extremely flattering (and even more so that folks I don't even know are leaving me nice, thoughtful comments).

You know, it's kind of ironic, in a sense, because I used to be actively ashamed and embarrassed about being a furry. That feels like such a long time ago, now (and clearly, I've gotten over that!), but after accepting that having a love for two-legged animal-people didn't make me any weirder than most anyone else, I guess it was easier to plunge deeper into things.

So, yes, I have your wonderful icon here because it's true: I am proud to be a furry, and I'm proud to look around and call all you other folks my friends and my peers.

I'll second the motion to keep on being awesome. :)
