I thought it would sound better than "unproductive night is unproductive," anyway.

Last night laurie_robey and I spent something like two hours fighting with my Palm TX, trying to make it synch with my (relatively) new Vista machine. No dice. USB, WiFi, Bluetooth ... nothing could get the two things to communicate beyond an introductory handshake.

This is quite an irritation to me, as I am more than a little dependent on the "to do" list functions in Outlook to keep me focused at any given time, and without my little PDA to carry along with me, I have no way to view and/or update it when I'm not at home — which is one of the reasons I haven't been getting much done in the past several months. (A minor reason, but a reason nonetheless.)

So now I have to figure out what to do about it; I don't really want to go out and get a Crackberry, iPhone, or other such wallet-chewing beast, but the simple fact is that Palm seems to be going the way of the dodo, and it's taking what's left of the PDA industry with it.

One thing I did accomplish last night was to get some exercise — specifically, four games of DDR playing five songs each. My lungs kvetched about it — asthmatic lion has trouble breathing — but I can't just keep letting my weight creep up and my endurance creep down. Besides the fact that I've already found myself unable to wear one of my recently-bought vests, Dragon*Con is only two months away and that's going to require a lot of walking.

Anyway, gotta work on job stuff now, so I'll end it here. But if anyone has a viable suggestion re: PDA, I'd love to hear it.

you too?

Last night i got home feeling solidly overwhelmed from work. x_x took me a good couple of hours to get out of that funk long enough to assault the kitchen and make dinner. The rest of the night wasn't much better, mostly just being brainless and vegetative at TF2 and/or WoW.

Tonight, i'll go for a walk when i get home.

Urgh, know the feeling all too well some days >_<

Looking forward to heading up to your neck of the woods, just wish I was bringing the tea and scones I'd intended to *shakes fist at the airline*

That reminds me, we should do a little discussing of logistics, as laurie_robey and I have to be at work, but don't want you to feel trapped at the house. Do you have plans in mind?

re: tea and scones, no worries. :) There's always next time! ;)

I'd originally arranged to meet with Tabbie to go to DC for the day, but she'll be in Ohio at a wedding :( Depending on how close you are to all the museums and such (although I'm guessing I could just take the Metro) I'd be happy to do the whole touristy thing while you guys are at work :)

Looking to head to a mall to stock up on supplies (including a new suitcase) at some point as well, but Erika might be taking me to Tyson's on the way up to yours, I'll letcha know either way :)

Unfortunately, the house is nowhere near either the museums or the Metro; although we could take you in to a Metro station on our way to work in the a.m. and pick you up in the evening.

Alternatively, you could take a taxi to the Udvar-Hazy center fairly cheaply and see a lot of neat stuff there (the Enterprise lander, the Enola Gay, a Blackbird, et al.), but I'm not sure it's something you'd want to spend all day doing.

Ironically, we work right next to Tyson's and go there for lunch almost every day. :) But Fair Oaks Mall (or even Potomac Mills) might be easier to reach on the way here.

Re: Have you...
Yup, that's one of the major sources we were working from last night, with no luck.

I was using an iPod Touch before I went with the iPhone. It makes a VERY nice PDA.

(Former owner of various levels of PalmPilot, as well as other stuff...)

It does sound better, actually. Like most internet memes, that whole "(adjective) (noun) is (adjective)" thing exhaused its 15 minutes of fame a long time ago and needs to just freakin' die already.
