Who is your favorite lady detective from movies, books, or TV?

It has to be Miss Marple as played by Margaret Rutherford. Interesting thing is, she's "completely wrong" from a Christie fan viewpoint, but purist that I usually am I actually prefer the wrong version.

Second runner up and strong contender, Velma Dinkley!

Interesting piece of trivia about the Margaret Rutherford-Marple movie "Murder, She Said" (which you've probably heard): Agatha Christie thought that an actress who played a maid in the movie would have been better as Miss Marple. Her name? Joan Hickson.

I was quite fond of Angela Lansbury's Miss Marple. Julia McKenzie and Geraldine McEwan are okay, but their series has been tainted by having too many non-Marple stories with her introduced (in much the same way as the Rutherford Marples).

You want to put a smile on Huskyteer's face, don't ya!
Mine is VI Warshawski. Cruddy movie, great books.

Although, Kathleen Turner WAS, at that time, a perfect physical fit. Too bad the script was garbage.

Close 2nd---Kinsey Millhone. She's my homegirl. I'm waiting for Sue Grafton to write a book that mentions Arroyo Grande.

I wasn't specifically trying to put a smile on Huskyteer's face, but I have no objection to it as a side-effect, either. :)
