Wow. 0.o

The pilot was kinda meh, but the new Clone Wars series is really, really good.

I am seriously impressed. "Storm Over Ryloth" nearly brought me to tears.

I just wonder if the series is going to end with Anakin lopping off Ahsoka's head. Let's face it, it has to happen sooner or later.

EDIT: Of course, I know this series has got to be non-canonical. The real Anakin Skywalker isn't that likeable.

I actually really like the Clone Wars series. I mean, sure, it's definitely skewing younger in terms of its audience, but it's not a bad little show, when it comes down to it.

I'm a big fan of the Anakin/Ahsoka dynamic. I'm actually, really, REALLY curious to see what they end up doing with her.

About skewing younger: yes and no ... when I was in "the younger demographic," we had stuff like G.I. Joe, where everybody was armed with blue lasers that knocked people down but didn't really hurt them, and if your helicopter was hit you could be sure there would be a parachute. I have been impressed by the way Clone Wars has been very straightforward about people getting killed as a danger of war. Thinking of Sarge's coup de grace-style death in the listening outpost episode particularly — that's pretty heady stuff for "kid's fare".

One of the reasons I liked Star Blazers when I was young was because it was the same way. Even "softened up" from the Japanese version, it still had death up front and center as something the characters had to face.

Oh, absolutely! The first time I sat down to watch an episode, I was actually really shocked (and yet pleased) that they didn't make any attempts to sugar-coat the realities of death in wartime.

There is a real sense of gravitas to a lot of the events in the show, and even if it does get kinda silly at times (I'm glad they included less and less Jar-Jar as the first season went on), the shift towards the gritty in late Season One/early Season Two has been very good.

I liked the episode with the Lurmen in it, because anthro-lemurs in Star Wars is cool, and the second part of that two parter had George Takei voice acting for one of the badguys.
