Dapper Doesn't Do Whining

Things must have reached quite the state here -- I came this close to making a pointless whiny post about it.

But then I remembered that I have an MP3 of Charlie Parker playing "Take Five."

It's better now.

It's a jazz classic, man! Everybody's got to take a whack at it sooner or later.

There used to be a show called "The Secret Life of Machines" that had a brilliant version of it as the theme music. I've always wanted a copy of that version.

PS: It's worth noting that this MP3 says it's Charlie Parker, but as I don't know where it came from, I can't vouch for it. I'm not even sure how it ended up on my hard drive, but I love it anyway.

Oh yeah...

Take Five was my first encounter with 5/4 time where the piece felt like it BELONGED in 5/4 time.

"Everything's All Right" from Jesus Christ Superstar was my second.

Well, when it comes to 5/4 time, I've always been partial to the Mission: Impossible theme. (The original, I mean, not the movies.)

Yeah...stupid movie changed it out of 5/4. Bleh!

Eh. The Chemical Brothers copy of the MI theme was good in its own right, but you're right, the original 5/4 was just made of win, awesome, and a little bit of syncopation. =)

Cool. Now can you do an old school internal monologue instead of a whiny post? Internal monologues are cool.

You can call yourself "The Noir" for the day instead of "The Gneech". Or maybe the "The Noir Gneech".
