The crabapple died of a peculiar fungus that comes of planting apple and cedar trees too close together, and we chopped it down.
The decorative plum that I loved so much died of being bored into by insects, and we chopped it down.
The big ol' cedar lost one trunk in the big snowstorm of last month; we paid a tree service $500 to clear away the dead parts and rescue the live parts if at all possible. And it had a decent chance of recovering ... until last night. When another friggin' snowstorm came along and killed the other trunk, too.
So now we're probably going to have to pay another $500 to clear away the dead tree, plus whatever damage it may have done to the neighbors' house/yard. But I'm not half as upset about the money as I am about losing another tree.
Yeah, fuck you, snow. I hate you now.
