And Also, the Pet Shop Boys

ME: "Hmm, let's call up my alternativey-station on Pandora and listen to some tunes."

PANDORA: "Pet Shop Boys! Yay!"

ME: "Eh, they're a little gloomy. I'll switch over to my bouncy synthepop dance station."

PANDORA: "Pet Shop Boys! Yay!"

ME: "..."

PANDORA: "Would you rather it was the Smiths?"

It depends on the song, but yeah, sometimes they're major downers. Certainly the song that came up first was; I forget what it was now tho.

"Domino Dancing", "It's A Sin" and "Suburbia" can all be seen as gloomy. Maybe even "Left To My Own Devices" and "What Have I Done To Deserve This?"

But those are all still bouncy synthpop. Since he's at work I was assuming he just wanted the beat, and the lyrics weren't really that important.

I suppose "Jealousy" qualifies...

A co-worker swears that Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black" has been covered so many times that it will appear in every imaginable genere playlist.
