Dear Software Manufacturers:

Please stop pushing updates that force a reboot, or I will stab you in the head.

Unless you need Adobe Reader for some particular feature, or stuck with it at work, it might be worth a look at Foxit. It comes up much faster and doesn't (pretend to?) load the universe while it advertises at you.

I've tried it. It's fast for text but seems to have considerable trouble with heavy graphics. Not bad for work, but at home I need to be able to go through a lot of graphics heavy game books quickly. (Yay for Paizo's offering Pathfinder books in cheap pdfs!) It just doesn't seem to be able to handle that, it's painfully slow, even on my very fast PC, as well as on any others I've tried on for comparison. It paints the images in very slowly, one layer at a time, and while it draws them, it won't allow any sort of navigation, including scrolling past those images. I don't have that problem with Adobe Reader, so for now, I'm going to have to stick with it.

Thanks, though.
