And while I suspect Powell is probably right about the Iraqi report to the U.N. being "12,200 pages of lies, gaps and omissions," at the same time, the U.S. government isn't exactly being forthcoming about what evidence they have to the contrary, as far as I can tell.

This is not how a free country is supposed to be run, guys.
It's because of crap like this, that I am a fervent isolationist. Free trade with all; alliances and/or aid to none. If private citizens want to send money to Israel, or support rebels in South America, or whatever, that's their own beeswax. But the government should have no part of it.
