That's All Well and Good, But...

...huh?

-The Gneech, who just watched the "mid-series climax" of Doctor Who, and really hopes there are more substantive answers coming up

Does the new series seem a little... rushed to you?

Yeah, a bit. But keep in mind we're in mid-series still, so hopefully there'll be more to it later on.

Certainly this last episode felt rushed as heck!

I've always thought that one of the few ways in which the new series is arguably inferior to the "classic" one is the breakneck pace of the episodes. At first, I thought it was just the limits imposed by the new single-story-per-episode format, but even the 2-part episodes feel rushed. It'd be nice if they'd slow down a bit and realize that not all of their viewing audience consists of teenagers with the attention span of -- oh, look, a bunny! and college kids hopped up on six-packs of Red Bull. :D

(I also kind of wish they'd dial back on the whole "season-long arc building towards THE DESTRUCTION OF THE UNIVERSE!!" schtick. Like the Borg in Star Trek, you can only go to that well so many times before it stops being a Terrifying Menace and starts being seen as just another day at the office.)

Actually, Moffat said that's one reason he's dialing back the Daleks a bit -- the more times they show up, the more times they get their metal keisters handed to them, making them considerably less threatening and scary.
