I got about halfway through selecting and organizing the strips for Book 3 tonight, including getting the Class Menagerie
strips from the Dover/Kurt crossover integrated with the SJ strips in an order that made something vaguely resembling sense. It's a bit convoluted and has that "multithreaded timeline" thing going on, but if it works for anime, it'll work for me! ;)
I would go on a rant here about how cool Vince is and what an honor it was for me, but you've heard it all before. :)
I got up to where "Tiffarella" starts before calling it a night ... that's going to be problematic to say the least. Tiffarella has lots of big swaths of black, which will make printing less-than-a-joy. It also has a lot of irregular-sized blocks, which will not fit easily into the standard Plan Nine format. So this is going to be a lot of work for me.
I feel a little strange putting out Book 3 as "my" book ... between Vince and kelloggs2066
, I'm not even sure that more than 50% of the book is my own work. I didn't really realize until I started going back through the archives just how
thin SJ was in 2002. The work of mine that was there was as good as ever or better in some cases, but there were an awful lot of guest strips, sketchbook raids, rough doodles, or just plain empty holes. Merf.
You think your cartooning can defeat me? Ha! Your Kung Fu is no good.
Well, that was the way it had to be; there's nothing I can do about it now but to press forward and strive to do better this year. So far I've been doing a pretty good job, but there are still more holes than I'd care for.
Focus, Gneech. You can do it.
G'nite, world, and have a great week.
