Tuesday, the Iraqi Information Minister gave an announcement talking about how U.S. reports of victory in this, that, or the other battle were all lies, about how the coalition (and "Zionist!") forces were making no progress, how their battle plans were utter failures, etc., etc., and I said to Laurie, "In fact, the coalition forces aren't even in Iraq. There is no war! Anybody who claims to hear explosions is damned by Allah!"

Ha, ha, funny me, very clever. Life carries on.

Today, Laurie forwarded me this from a news report:

Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, however, called coalition reports that their forces were on the outskirts of Baghdad "an illusion."

They're not even [within] 100 miles," he said. "They are not in any place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion ... they are trying to sell to the others an illusion."

Um ... dude ... I was joking! I mean come on, there's spin, and then there's just plain schizophrenia!

PS: I don't know what's scarier, that he's saying this stuff, that he thinks people are going to believe this stuff, or that there may actually be people out there who do. Of course, with propaganda being the way it is, he may have said something else entirely and we're just being told that's what he said. Isn't paranoia fun?
