The Lucasarts game Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast has some interesting little things thrown in, including the fact that an activated lightsaber cuts through whatever it happens to come into contact with.
For some reason, this morning I keep remembering the first time I went through the "break Lando Calrissian out of prison" sequence and, not realizing it, came walking up too close to him with the lightsaber ignited.
In other news, my dad is in the hospital with some kind of blood poisoning. :P He's not in any danger, apparently, just feels like crap. Laurie and I are going to check in on him on the way home tonight. My dad is thin-skinned (in the literal sense, i.e., his skin is not as thick as most people's) and he's constantly covered with scratches and abrasions ... so probably he stood within ten feet of a sharp piece of metal and pffft!. I hope he feels better soon! He's had a lot to put up with on the health front, lately. He's not exactly young these days ... seventy-eight if my memory serves me right.
Visited him in the hospital for a few hours this evening. He's a bit delerious with fever and the medication thereof, and on the weak side, but given the seriousness of his affliction (and his age), he seemed to be holding up very well. Whenever he could get his eyes open, he'd joke a bit, and even croaked out a bit of one of his trademark silly songs from days of old . He tended to fade in and out, and was groggy at best when he was "faded in." His relentless quirky sense of humor, which is really his definitive trait, I think, was the main thing that kept the situation tolerable for him. When all else fails, he manages to have fun even when he's sick as a dog, by just being a big silly goofball.
Anyway, I'll be wrapped up in helping my mom deal with that for the next few days. I expect he'll be more coherent tomorrow and practically good as new by the end of the weekend. He's a trooper, is my dad. :)
