Boromir battle

Rout!!! Oops...

Well, that didn't go so well ... camstone's ranger was torn apart by the goblins' wolf, after the goblin adept put most of the party asleep.

I set up the scenario so that the characters would either have a tough fight with a frontal assault, or could go in commando-style and maybe do some hit-and-run attacks to whittle 'em down.

jamesbarrett had his wizard sneak in and cast a sleep spell on the main force of goblin troops ... all but one of them made their saving throw, thus being unaffected -- and alerted to the players' presence. It sorta went downhill for the players from there.

All of the characters were at least wounded, and most of them badly. One stabilized at -6 hp and had to be carried off by the other two survivors as they fled. As it was, they were a few lucky (or unlucky, as the case may be) rolls away from a TPK (gaming parlance for "Total Party Kill"). That would have been my first one ever as a GM, and I don't mind telling you I was a bit nervous.

Ah well ... next week, we'll bring in a new character, and let them have a second crack at it. The goblins did take some heavy losses ... we'll see how well they can recover before the characters get back to take another shot at it!
