New Computer Report, and Other Stuff

I spent the weekend pretty much playing with or on Tiffany (the new computer, not the tiger), putting it through its paces, and generally messin' with it. Collapse )

Other Stuff:

I drew a complete blank on SJ over the weekend, and I don't mind telling you, I'm annoyed. I have a basic plot worked out, but no enthusiasm for actually doing anything with it. My mind is on other stuff lately, and SJ is time consuming.

I also didn't do anything with the Bowflex, despite several attempts to make myself do it. Time goes too damn fast when I'm either A) trying to get something done, or B) trying to indulge in a little fun. So I end up resisting going to bed (damn it, it's TOO SOON to go to bed!), which means I end up sleeping way too late the next day (11:00 already???), which means I have even LESS time the next day.

This pisses me off. I don't care if I can change it or not, I'm not going to accept it. In this case, the world is just plain wrong, and if I figure out who's in charge, I'm going to give them a piece of my mind about it!

Tonight, I need to spend doing two things: writing scripts, and cleaning off my drawing table. Then, tomorrow night, drawing. No computer games for me 'til Wednesday at the earliest, or at the most one or two missions in WC or CS right when I get home, since those are usually 10 minutes or less (as opposed to trying to get anything done in ToEE, which takes forever).

Must ... Reboot ... Creativity...

I wonder why my creativity/productivity comes in waves like it does. Right now, it's at a low ebb; I was looking through the "Character Q&A" thread on the SJ forum, trying to come up with interesting ways for the cast to answer the various questions posed ... and I could only come up with one answer.

I've got to poke around art sites, maybe watch some new anime or something, and find something that gets my gears moving.

Something Micro$oft Did Right

Although I've come a long way since my foaming-at-the-mouth "Boycott Micro$oft" days (which were mostly a reaction to the market-death of my beloved WordPerfect), I still have a less-than-friendly attitude towards them generally.

However, I would like to compliment whomever on the MS Office team who came up with Links, the adorable animated cat you can choose to replace Clippy Skippy the Evil. The soothing effect of clicking on Links to make him animate (or just having him do random catlike things at you while you work) mitigates some of the stress caused by working in Word. Sorta like winning the lottery while having your arms and legs amputated without anaestesia.

(In their defense, I will say that they make great hardware. I love both my MS ergonomic keyboard and my Sidewinder joystick. They also make pretty good games ... if only their OS and office software was as good!)

Yes, More of Dat!

An hour at Starbucks with my notebook netted scripts through mid-November. Maybe I'll make that a weekly activity! 'twas very nice indeed. :)

I did another Q&A pic today, and was going to scan and post 'em tonight, but I ran out of tonight to do it with. Maybe I'll try to sneak 'em in tomorrow sometime. I also need to tweak an image for Orange Alert and get that to Dave posthaste.

Still, it was nice to get something done! Let's hope it starts a trend. ;)

Meanwhile, g'nite, and have a terrific tomorrow: you've earned it!
