Kero asleep

Hmm ... It's Tomorrow Already...

Guess I outa hit the hay, huh? Just a little status report. Did the Bowflex tonight, substituting freeweights for the exercises that had the bench at an incline, since that seems to be the problem causing the recall. I upped the weight on the triceps exercise, hoping that will help develop the muscles and improve pushups ... we'll see.

Also finally saw the entrance of Edward in Cowboy Bebop. Not sure how I feel about her yet ... until now the series has been pretty straightforward space adventure ... Ed is awfully over the top. We'll see.

In other news, I'm tired so I'm going to bed. G'nite. :)

Today's Bit of Forgotten English

Unsuccessful or failing in one's profession or business from want of ability or means; dwarfed; stunted in growth; unfinished. Stickit job, a bungled or unfinished job.
--Alexander Warrack's Scots Dialect Dictionary, 1911

Stickit minister, a disqualified parson, one who has failed in his first attempt to preach and never made another.
--Albert Hyamson's Dictionary of English Phrases, 1922

A speech is stickit when the speaker is unable to proceed.
--John Mactaggart's Scottish Gallovidian Encyclopedia, 1824

On this date in 1678, John Bunyan (1628-1688) published part one of his magnum opus, The Pilgrim's Progress, portions of which -- including this comment on one of life's ironies -- were written during a prison stretch he served for "unlicensed preaching":
Some things are of that nature as to make
One's fancy chuckle, while his heart doth ache.

Knew what he was talking about, that John Bunyan.
