Scar Surrounded

Well, the cicadas are out in force now; the ones buzzing around now, besides being more numerous, are also considerably more active and definitely more durable than the ones that were out last week. Walking around outside is an adventure in trying to avoid being bonked into, dropped on, or otherwise accosted by the goofy little buggers. They're not exactly what you'd call a swarm, but they do rather remind one of heavy traffic.

The regular garden-variety cicadas that come out every year are also out now, thrumming twice as loud as usual in order to be heard over the constant phaser warble. Unfortunately for them, they're losing the battle.

Oh, look, another one! *brushes a cicada off his arm*

Two Items...

1) I need a new sketchbook! Mine is getting full. 0.o Sometimes I feel weird that I don't pack every inch on both sides of the paper full the way Vince does, but he uses bristol pads for his sketches (thus, less image bleed-through), and he also tends to have a cleaner and more, er, organized (for lack of a better term) approach. So I only use one side and have big swaths of empty space, generally. I think this is only the second sketchbook I've ever actually filled up. The Saturday Grab Bag idea has really paid off!

2) Herbie has graciously given me permission to use some of his art in the handouts for my panel at AnthroCon! Thanks, dude! You rule!
