Kero asleep

Okay, So I'm an Idiot. That's Old News.

Well, I found the missing files, finally; they were in a different directory from the rest of my Michael Macbeth stuff, with a name that didn't really indicate what it was. -.-

No, I don't know what I was thinking, either. Apparently, I like to sabotage myself.

But I've got it again, so maybe I'll be able to devote another hour to it next weekend.

Meanwhile, I've got comics to work on ... oh, and that whole "job" thing.

Floating Accent

I've commented before that I grew up mostly watching public television; in the U.S., in the '70s and '80s, public television meant one thing: the BBC. :) So in many ways, British and related accents sound more natural to me than my own native "eastern seaboard." If left to my own devices, my inclination is to speak with a vaguely Beebish lilt to my voice, but I don't because I then feel self-conscious that people around me will feel like I'm putting on airs.

One side-effect of this is that when I encounter somebody who naturally speaks with a British, Scots, Irish, or Aussie accent, I unconsciously start to pick it up -- because it's like finally speaking to somebody whose voice sounds right!

The reason I mention this today is that at the White Pony Room Party at Dragon*Con, and then again Friday and Saturday, it happened again whenever I'd get into conversation with james_b. I mentioned it to Dave Allen when I was sitting at the Plan Nine table, and he said he gets the same thing whenever he visits his family in Ireland -- he comes back to the U.S. talking like a leprechaun.

Maybe I should just move to London and be done with it!

It would certainly make it easier to get ahold of Jazz Butcher CDs...
