The Dearth of Dirk

The closest existing literary creation (that I know of) to Michael Macbeth, is of course Douglas Adams' holistic detective Dirk Gently. Michael, while not a copy of Dirk, certainly draws some inspiration from him.

Thus, I decided I'd poke around the internet for some literary analysis and/or critique of the Dirk Gently stories; with little success. The highlight of my results was a webpage that asserts that Dirk Gently could beat up Hercule Poirot, and while it's almost certainly true, it's also not exactly what I would call useful.

Alas! Other than "it's funny," nobody seems to have much to say about poor Dirk.

...do I feel more guilty about trying to write at work, than I do about playing Solitaire?
