RIP, Christopher Reeve

He always came across as an affable, cheerful guy, even after the accident, and I always admired him for that. He was no slouch as an actor, either. Everybody knows him as Superman, of course, but I always remember him in Noises Off, as the hopelessly-sensitive and self-doubting Freddie, getting nosebleeds whenever somebody else got hurt and being completely clueless that Carol Burnett was hitting on him.

Of course, the fact that Culpeper, site of his accident, is just a short hop down the road from here, has always made me feel rather apologetic for my state. "Um, Mr. Reeve sir, on behalf of Virginia, we're very sorry about that."

Feh. Mortality sucks. :P

"Celedras," said Lariên, "I've just noticed that your nose is slightly crooked."

"My nose?" said Celedras, blinking. "My nose? I am Noldor, good Lariên. In Valinor danced I beneath the light of the Silmarils while the world was young; I have seen the passing of Númenor and the rise of Sauron; I make my home in the shadow of Erebor, where I defend man and dwarf alike with my bow and my woodcraft. And all you think to tell me, is that I have a crooked nose?"

"Well, no," she said, after a moment. "You could use a haircut, too."
