Pancake Day
In Britain, the Tuesday before Lent began was long looked on as a day for preparing and consuming pancakes. Martha Bradley's The British Housewife, or The Cook, Housekeeper's and Gardiner's Companion (1756) offered the following advice for first-time pancake-flippers: "This is a thing very easy to a bold hand, but which a timerous person will never be able to do well. For such a one, she is to know that the first thing to be done is to get rid of her fear, and then a little practice will make it quite familiar. The best way to learn is this: Let a kitchen tablecloth be spread upon the ground at a small distance from the fire, and when the first pancake is ready for turning let the cook try to toss it over the cloth. If it falls in right, it is very well, and if not there is no harm done; it will be catched clean and may do for the servants' table."

Tuesday Workout Report (Zoom! Edition)

My workout was a little rushed tonight; on the way home from work laurie_robey and I dropped off the rent and raided the local comic shop for issues of The Comics Journal, Blue Line Pro: Sketch Magazine, and assorted comics and manga. Market research! *cha-ching* Then we zipped home so I could zoom through my workout while Laurie made dinner, in order to get me out of the house and off to my counselor appointment on time. I just have a few minutes to make this post, in fact.

I didn't do the usual cooldown set of rows because dinner was ready by that point. (Thanks, Laurie! ^.^)

My arms and shoulders are really starting to show some muscle growth. Unfortunately, my diet has been slipping the past several days -- I've pretty much been hungry all the time and craving chocolate in particular -- so the spare tire continues unabated, le sigh. But tomorrow is Yourself! Fitness night, so I imagine there'll be plenty of jumping around like a maniac then.

This week's strips are done and up on the Keenspot servers -- woohoo! So when I get back tonight, and tomorrow and Thursday, I can work on chipping away at the Too Much To Do List, or getting ahead, or even --gasp!-- possibly doing some of both!

But now, it's off to ramble at the shrink for 45 minutes. ;) CYA!
