Entirely Too Nice a Day Today

My plan was to work today to earn comp time, so I would have to spend less vacation time to go to FC. However, the lappie doesn't seem to want to cooperate, so I may be forced to take today off after all.

Oh darn.

In other news, it's abso-friggin'-lutely beautiful here today ... bright blue sunny sky, temps into the 50s (which is huge for January), so I'm thinking that around lunchtime I might try to get out and do some sketching over at Reston Town Center. I've been meaning to do that for a while now, but I've never had the coincidence of nice weather and free time to do it in.

Finally, Firefox is really getting to be irritatingly sucktastic. I have switched over to Chrome, which frankly I'm not real thrilled with either, just because it doesn't hang every time I leave it alone for ten minutes. Mozilla really screwed up with version 3, and so far nothing they've done has made it any better.

Anything else? Hmm. *thinks*

Nope, not right now. If I think of something else, I'll let you know.

Shoulda Known THAT Was Too Good to Be True

Well, so much for my free Monday; my dad can't put weight onto his left leg, so we have to schlep him over to Kaiser Permanenté. Without knowing more, I don't know how big this is going to be, but it's certainly going to wipe out anything I may have thought of doing after 4:00.

Not his fault of course; it's not like he wants to be needing rides to the hospital all the time. He's just, y'know, old, and frail, and been kicked around a lot by life.

We did manage to get out and do that sketching I was talking about earlier, but the results were less-than-worthy. The sunshine was warm enough, but there was a nonstop cold breeze that blew stuff around and froze up my fingers, so I'd barely finished one sketch before I was like "Okay, nevermind!" and we headed home. I also neglected to take a straightedge, which is something absolutely vital to have if you're going to be trying to draw buildings and such.

So ... not sure what I'm going to do with the afternoon. I'd like to feel like I accomplished something today, but I have no idea what I can do before it's time to get food and then go play ambulance.

Dad Okay, Time for Sketches!

Well, we schlepped my dad over to Kaiser, who said, "Nothing's broken, don't know why his hip hurts. Take some Advil and put a heating pad on it." So he's okay, as long as he keeps poking around on the walker. I was pleased that getting him in and out of the Murano was fairly easy, as that was definitely in our minds when we bought it.

While I was there, I did some sketchin'.
