After a week of record-breaking misery here, yesterday afternoon we had a short but extremely intense storm. Not a whole lot of lightning and thunder, but crazy winds that flung the trees around like a hurricane, and walls of rain rolling past in waves. At Reagan National, the temperature dropped 25° in one hour.
By the end of it, it was still hot and humid, but it was "only" hot and humid, not "don't go out there, you'll melt your face" hot and humid.
This, combined with the fact that I spent what felt like most of the weekend sleeping, has given me a giant boost in energy and morale. For the first time in weeks, I feel vaguely like myself again. Of course that didn't come until the weekend was all but over — stupid short weekends! — but I'll take what I can get! I'm hoping that now I'll be able to start catching up on all the stuff that's been sliding, both at work and in my own projects. We're a little over a month out from Dragon*Con, and I'd like to already be "moving" when that comes so I can pick up a nice post-con bounce and really knock some stuff out of the park in the autumn.
I mean, I was out of bed, eating breakfast, and wide awake at 7:00 — how crazy is that?
Speaking of which, gotta go get ready for work. Alas!
PS: I should mention, the storm wasn't happy for everybody. Two people were killed by falling trees. :( It was a heck of a storm, even if it was only 20 minutes long.
