Some folks have still got it pretty rough in the northeast. There are plenty of people still without power or hot food, or who are trying to rebuild their lives after having everything wiped out. My company is sending a care package up that way tomorrow, and there are plenty of other organizations who can also help you pitch in. (Here's a list c/o the TED blog.
I won't get into the ins and outs of which organizations you should work with or steer clear of, mainly because I'm not educated enough on the topic to have a meaningful opinion. But organizations like CharityNavigator
can help you make an informed decision.)
