Verity as a Furry, Development Pics

Verity as Furry Development Sketches 1 by ~the-gneech on deviantART

Verity, who was intended for Arclight Adventures but never actually appeared except for on the cover, re-visioned as a leopard for a story idea I’m noodling around with that would team her up with Tanya. I think I’ve pretty well settled on leopard as her species, but I’m still trying to settle on a typical spotty type, or “black panther” type.

Thoughts, anyone?

An observation, if I may.

To me the regular spotted leopard looks like Mooncat.
Not an exact match, mind you, but close enough to possibly cause confusion in some cases.

Mooncat's a smilodon, isn't she?

Anyhow, I'm not real worried that people will get confused about it. :)

Thanks for the input, tho!

No, Mooncat is a Chelioness: cheetah-lioness cross.

She occasionally uses a smilodon as an alternate though

*chuckles* I'm not that worried either, as I'd have to be, well, known, in order for others to mistake her for me.

Though I do vote for spots. I likes me some spots.

She looks like someone Dover'd fall for, if she wasn't already attached...

ETA: Go for the standard look... black panther look doesn't stand out to me as much.

Actually, I could totally see Louis crushing on her.

For what little this feline's opinion is worth: I'd suggest going with the black panther. It may prove to be a bit easier on you in the long run. Unless, of course, you don't mind obsessing over making sure the spots are in the same place in the same pattern every time she shows up, or having an ocd fan going nuts when the spots drift.

-shrug- I'm not an artist, so I don't really know. Just what I thought when I saw all those spots.

The black panther look has its own pitfalls in the art department-- I'd say they're pretty evenly matched in terms of difficulty. Really it's a matter of which fits the character better and is more aesthetically pleasing.

Oh, okay. Sorry. Not something I know anything about, I'm not a visual person.

Hope your friends can offer real opinions.

Nothing at all to be sorry about! Your input is welcome and desired! Thank you. :)

I like the black panther better, partly for aesthetic reasons and partly because it feels like a nod to her original not-Caucasian incarnation. Not that I actually equate specific furries to specific human ethnicities, but it's still there a bit. :)

Dunno if you'll read this, but it's sorta hard to say as it is, because I really don't like that overall color scheme with the black panther (esp the dark hair). Works beautifully with the leopard coloration, though!

That aside, IMHO the black panther stereotype tends to be slinky and sultry, so I think the regular type fits better.

I did read it! Thanks. :) I was curious what you'd say!
