Sales-wise, Friday was pretty decent but today was slow for me. It was slow for lots of other people too, but their definition of slow and mine are very different... when someone has more homework in their bag than I've done all day and charges more than I do, that's a very different version of slow. ;)
That said, I don't really mind-- this weekend is the first time I've had in months to just sit still for three days and not DO anything, not THINK about anything, etc., so I'm in a win-win situation. Sell a ton of stuff and make lots of money? Score! Sit and vegetate all day? Score!
I miss having Vince here, of course, and I seem to be the go-to guy for people asking if Vince is here this year or not. (Bulletin: he isn't.) But I'm also doing my best to meet new folks and find new artists to follow/support/hang out with. I have bought a few items more than I really budgeted for (oops), but on the whole I've tried to restrain my commission-buying, print-hoarding impulses. I picked up two commissions, one from Jen Sing and one from LizardBeth, both of which were mind-splodingly awesome, and I will post them when I get back home. I've also done some sketches for people that I was quite pleased with, which I've been tossing out in tweets (so you can find the links in the "My Tweets" posts for yesterday, today, and tomorrow).
For the first time ever (that I recall), I've also been open to the idea of post-con commissions. Normally I don't accept commissions for my art, because I hate saying "No," I hate returning money, and I often take way longer than I like to finish commssions. However, with my upcoming lifestyle changes, I will probably make taking commissions part of my revenue stream, or at least attempt to, both to make money directly, as well as to increase my output. Artists who post quality stuff on a regular basis are more likely to gain a following, after all.
I hope, and expect, that this will be the last AC where I don't really have anything new at the table. I am nearing the end of my stock on a bunch of the old stuff anyway (sold the last "Ponies vs. Daleks" portfolio today, for instance), and it would be good to be able to do a clean sweep and have all-new (or at least mostly-new) material for 2014.
Anyway! I'm falling asleep as I type, drunken louts on the street and their shouts of "Wooooo!" notwithstanding, so I think I'll end this here for now, stick in my earplugs, and crash. Gnite world, and have an awesome tomorrow-- tomorrow night I sleep in my own bed again!
