  • Sat, 08:40: He’d torn out most of the innards and tricked it out as best as the chassis could handle. It didn’t even have a bridge so much as a cockpit.
  • Sat, 08:41: Traveller always seemed to suffer between being neither Star Wars nor 2001, but wanting to be both. Which didn’t work.
  • Sat, 08:42: D&D is neither Tolkein or Conan but has wiggle room for either. Traveller, not so much. You can’t realistically do space dogfights.
  • Sat, 08:44: Really, most tropes of action-oriented SF don’t make sense at all. Space is big and empty. There’s little to fight about.
  • Sat, 08:44: Why build a death star when you can just throw an asteroid at planets that annoy you?
  • Sat, 08:46: Don’t get me started on artificial gravity. I twisted my brains trying to make that work in a semi-realistic way.
  • Sat, 08:47: Unless you can figure out how to enclose “gravity” in a bubble, any ship where you can walk the decks will have as much mass as a planet.
  • Sat, 08:48: It’s the closest Traveller had to a Millennium Falcon. Shaped like an arrowhead; kinda like the ship in Asteroids.
  • Sat, 08:49: Yes, but then gyroscopic effects make it crazy hard to maneuver, and g-forces of thrust slam you against the wall.
  • Sat, 08:53: “Future magic science” was what I generally ended up going with in my stories/games. :)
