In Kung Fu I started a new move today, the kippup. You've seen Jackie Chan do this move a bazillion times: the martial artist starts on their back, does a quick rock-and-kick motion while pushing up against the ground with their hands, and is instantly standing again. (See images here.)
The move is actually part of the second level curriculum, and I didn't do anything near mastering it ... in fact I didn't successfully perform the maneuver at all. Still not enough arm/back strength. But I did do better than I expected to do considering that I still haven't managed the Iron Bridge yet. (Iron Bridge = bent over backwards with your hands and feet on the floor and your hips and stomach pointed at the ceiling.)
I also (inspired a bit by laurie_robey doing the same) put data into my "Bowflex Trainer" software and had it generate a workout for me, now that the recall upgrade kit has been installed. Between going back to KF 2x/week in June (thank you, Monday night class!) and the Bowflex, I'm hoping to make some big fitness strides this summer. Maybe one of these days I'll get to that "swimming pool at AC" goal I keep aiming for.
Last but not least, I did tchall's AC badge today, and he's very pleased with it. Woohoo! All in all, a good day. :)
