Geek Fun

laurie_robey and I went down to Richmond today to visit with kelloggs2066, who was in town on a job hunt. We spent most of the day at the Richmond Science Museum, where Scott went "Squee!" at the giant, floating black marble globe out front. He and I then had fun rolling the Earth around, turning it upside down, making it rotate from west to east, and so forth, making Atlas, Archimedes, and Focault jokes the whole time.

Let's face it, you have to be an extreme geek to take delight in Atlas, Archimedes, and Focault jokes. "Who says online cartoonists don't have the power to shift the world?" was another one that got a lot of mileage.

When the Bill Nye-esque festivities were done, we grabbed some chow and then repaired to Scott's hotel room, where we did a quick sketchy art trade and discussed the economy in general and Virginia's in particular.

We were then beset by a horrific thunderstorm, which made for an entertaining drive home. ;)

I'll post sketches and photos later; suffice to say, a good time was had by all. And now I'm off to bed.
