Y'know, the 2000 election season never really ended; instead, constant political histrionics became the norm. So now that it's the 2004 election, it's jumped up from that baseline to new heights in shrill insanity. People are twisting themselves into all sorts of screaming, shouting knots, saying the most profoundly stupid things to spew their hatred at Tweedledum and show their support for Tweedledee, and generally acting like a bunch of asses.
I wonder if this is what the '60s were like; if so, no wonder the '70s were such a gawdawful mess.
I'd call for a return to civility, except that it wasn't civil before. But it was at least not so damn noisy.
